Vernon O. Brobston

Vernon O. Brobston, 95, of Richardson, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at his home.

He was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Clinton and Emily (Cole) Brobston. On July 6, 1964, in Stevens Point, Wis., he was united in marriage to Ellen Charlotte Sernau, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, David Brobston and Jonathan Brobston; one brother, Jim Stevens; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include: one son, Michael Brobston and his wife Nancy of Allen, Texas; two daughters, Bonnie Lee Elwert and her husband Hans of Holzhauson, Germany, and Lori Ann Austin and her husband Kenneth, of Leander, Texas; two daughters-in-law, Judy Brobston of Lakeland, Fla., and Tammie Brobston of Lampe; sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

He was a high school graduate and then received his bachelorís degree from Practical Bible Training School. For several years, he was Corpsman Supervisor in the Job Corps for the U.S. Forest Service and was a missionary for the American Sunday School Union. He attended Fellowship Bible Church in Lowell, Ark.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at McCullough Cemetery in Viola, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob.
