Cassville man arrested after chase
Passenger in allegedly stolen vehicle jumps out
A Cassville man is facing a felony charge after allegedly fleeing from police on Friday in a vehicle reported stolen.
Paul Bailey, 49, of Cassville, is charged with resisting arrest creating a substantial risk of serious injury.
According to a probable cause report filed by Deputy Kissinger, with the Barry County Sheriff's Office, Cassville police were attempting to stop a white Cadillac that was reported stolen at the intersection of 13th Street and Park Avenue to speak to the driver.
The suspect allegedly refused to stop for emergency lights and sirens and would not let a passenger out of the car. The passenger later jumped out of the vehicle and identified Bailey as the driver.
Kissinger assisted Cassville police in a pursuit, where Bailey allegedly drove into oncoming lanes of traffic and forced vehicles off the roadway.
Bailey was later apprehended and allegedly admitted to driving the vehicle, saying he knew law enforcement was behind him and attempting to stop him.
Bailey is being held in the Barry County jail on a $5,000, cash only bond. He had yet to be arraigned as of Tuesday morning.
