Barry County 4-H Clubs celebrate National 4-H Week with activities

Wednesday, October 4, 2017

By Marissa Tucker/Special to the Cassville Democrat

Sunday, Oct. 1: 4-H Sunday

If your church has a casual dress code, or if you’re up for wearing 4-H gear to your service, snap a picture of your group and send it to us on Facebook where the whole county can see who participated. Even if you’re not attending church services, wear your gear while you’re out and about and get excited for the week’s events.

Monday, Oct. 2: Cookies and Coffee at the Courthouse, 5:30 p.m.

Current 4-H families and volunteers, 4-H alumni, and our county commissioners are invited to come visit us at the courthouse in Cassville and enjoy refreshments as we familiarize ourselves with new faces and have great fellowship with old friends.

Tuesday, Oct. 3: Workshops at Cassville High School Ag Department, 5 p.m.

We have teamed up with 4-H families from Newton County to present several workshops that will be valuable for you! Some topics include county council, club officer training, parliamentary procedure, volunteer orientation, and new family orientation. Even if you’ve experienced these things before, I encourage you to attend to brush up on your knowledge and maybe learn something new! Workshops will begin at 5 p.m. and be in 30-minute shifts. To get to the CHS Ag Department, from Main Street, turn on North Main, then right onto Partridge Drive. Take the gravel road on the left. Hope to see you there.

Wednesday, Oct. 4: enrollment night, Cassville Branch Library, 6 p.m.

If you have questions about enrolling in 4-H online, or if you’ve done it before and would like to come for the company, we will be hosting an enrollment night at the Cassville Branch Library. If you’d like to bring your laptop to share, you may certainly do so.

Thursday, Oct. 5: Craft Night, New Life Temple Family Center, 5:30 p.m.

Bring your own arts and crafts to work on, or there will be a few simple crafts provided for you. Bring snacks if you’d like, too. New Life Temple Family Center is located in Cassville, just off of Highway 37.

Friday, Oct. 6: Game Night, Cassville Branch Library, 7 p.m.

Bring whatever games you’d like to play, and we’ll have a great time of fellowship. Bring your own snacks if you’d like as well.

Thursday, Oct. 12: Awards Banquet, 6 p.m., Exeter Community Center/Lions Club

Our annual awards banquet. The Council will provide the main course, families please bring drinks, sides, and desserts. We’ll have a great time celebrating all of your achievements.
