39-year-old facing three felonies for activities lasting years

A Cassville man is facing three felonies and a misdemeanor for alleged sex crimes spanning a two-year period with a child less than 18 years old.

Phillip Meshell, 39, of Cassville, is charged with second-degree statutory rape, second-degree statutory sodomy, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child and misdemeanor second-degree child molestation.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Det. Danny Boyd, with the Cassville Police Department, an interview with the victim was held on Sept. 18 at the Children's Advocacy Center in Monett.

The victim allegedly told the interviewer that over a two-year period, Meshell and the victim had sex about 40-50 times, ending in December 2016.

Meshell is being held in the Barry County jail on a cash-only bond of $50,000. He has been arraigned, and a disposition hearing was held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
