Erma Katherine Crowe
Erma Katherine Crowe, 88, of Purdy, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin.
She was born Oct. 26, 1928, in Belleville, Ill., the daughter of Addison and Erma (Smith) Storms. On Dec. 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Oscar Lowell Ridenour and he preceded her in death. On May 22, 1974 she married William “Wesley” Crowe who also preceded her in death. Others preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, William Storms, and one sister, Irene Marler.
Survivors include: one son, David L. Ridenour and his wife Shirley of Cassville; one daughter, Sharon Smith and her husband Duane of Monett; one step-daughter, Sheryl Busler and her husband Otto of Wanette, Okla.; one sister, Betty Darby of Belleville, Ill.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She grew up and received her education in Belleville, Ill., and then attended McKendree College in Lebanon, Illinois. For over ten years she taught school, first in Illinois and then at Wheaton and Monett. For twenty-five years she milked cows west of Purdy.
Funeral services were held Monday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell conducted the services. Burial was at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
