Southwest Little Theatre to present ‘The Melodrama and Olio’

The Southwest Little Theatre, part of Southwest Schools in Washburn, will present "The Melodrama and Olio," a modern comedy favorite with overly-dramatic dialogue and excessive emotional acting style that has audiences joining in to cheer the hero and boo the villain.

Production dates are Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. and Sept. 30 at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 per guest and can be reserved by contacting 417-826-5361, or online at

Friday’s Melodrama cast include: Janaya Erwin, Jesse Foster, Amber Crites, Mariah Long, Shelby Blevins, Deven Maleki, Ausitn Moreton, Kaitey Resz and Kaylea Holder.

Friday’s Olio performers include: Tierney Ash, Molly Atkinson, Trevor Bemrose, Tyler Bemrose, Cloe Brattin, Carli Carmack, Michaela Coke, Janaya Erwin, Justice Glueckert, Kaylea Holder, Deven Maleki, Amelia Pierce, Ethan Recio, Elizabeth Ross, Harley Setzer, Kaizer Slinkard, Samuel Smallwood, Madison Snow, Brittany Trotter, Jasmine Williams and Rachel Willer.

Saturday’s 4:30 p.m. Melodrama cast include those pictured. The Olio cast includes: Olivia Ayer, Chloe Hodge, Rachel Jimenez, Amber Larson, Elizabeth Long, Branden Lowry, Mackenzy McCarly, Danielle Martinez, Jailee Mitchell, Braden Moreton, Brooke Morgan, Jessica Munday, Seth Nipps, Austin Peterson, Shaylyn Reed, Hope Robbins, Shaylea Rose, Kristin Teague, and Alyssa West.

Saturday 6:30 p.m. Melodrama cast include those pictured. The Olio will feature student directed comedy scenes in a competition format.

The audience will vote for the best scene and the wining director and cast will be given awards at the SLT Angel Awards in March.
