Wednesday, August 23, 2017
Cassville students Summer Driver and Madison Bowyer spent the summer playing basketball for the Arkansas Lady Blazers, an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team based out of Bentonville, Ark. The girls went through two rounds of try-outs to reach the Top 10 elite players to make the 2021 team. The Blazers played against highly competitive teams from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kansas and Missouri in tournaments throughout the midwest during the season. They were coached by Sheila (Frost) Anderson, a two-time national championship player from University of Tennessee under Coach Pat Summitt. Pictured in photo, from left, are Driver and Bowyer holding medals from the Hoops Scout Media Regional Tournament at Next Level in Springdale. The girls will start their freshman year playing high school basketball for the Lady Wildcats at Cassville High School. They encourage the community to come out to support their local sports teams.
