Jerold Elroy “Jerry” Schoelzel
Jerold Elroy “Jerry” Schoelzel, 87, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017.
He was born Aug. 13, 1929, in Colby, Wis., the son of Rudolph August and Olivia (Guttenberg) Schoelzel. On Feb. 14, 1953, in Burlington, Wis., he was united in marriage to Joan Mabel Oetting, who survives.
Additional survivors include: four sons, Jeffery Allen Schoelzel, of Granby, Jay Michael Schoelzel, of Cassville, Jon Matthew Schoelzel and his wife Jamie of Cassville, and James Patrick Schoelzel of Cassville; four daughters, Janet Lee DeShazer and her husband Mark of Wheaton, Jean Neal and her husband Darrell of Baxter Springs, Kan.,, Judy Lynn Rodriguez and her husband Joseﬁ of Rocky Comfort, and Jerricay Dyer and her husband David of Butterfield; two brothers, Darnell Schoelzel and his wife Janice and Ronnie Schoelzel Sr., all of Colby, Wis.; four sisters, Darlene Watchendonk of Stevens Point, Wis., Connie Stein of Minnesota, Sandy Hudak of Marshfield, Wis., and Emerita Phillips of Abbotsford, Wis.; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
His son, Justin “Dusty” Schoelzel also passed away Aug. 1, 2017. Preceding him in death were his parents, eight brothers and six sisters.
He graduated from Colby High School in Wisconsin. He moved to Cassville 40 years ago. For several years, he was employed at Fasco and also farmed. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cassville Visitation was held Monday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. A private burial will be held.
