Assault, kidnapping charges filed against Eagle Rock man
Suspect allegedly attacked victim, did not allow victim to leave
An Eagle Rock man is facing two felonies after allegedly assaulting a victim and not allowing the victim to leave a home for two days.
Christopher Stills, 34, of Eagle Rock, is charged with first-degree domestic assault with serious injury and second-degree kidnapping.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Kyle Rhea, deputy with the Barry County Sheriff's Office, Stills allegedly choked the victim until unconscious, causing a seizure, then dragged the victim back into a house and continued to punch and headbutt the victim. He also threatened to kick the victim's throat if the police were called.
Stills is charged with kidnapping for allegedly taking the victim's keys while the victim was attempting to leave, then skipping work and holding the victim inside the home for two days after the initial assault. The victim was able to make a phone call for help when Stills went to get a doctor's note excusing him from missed days at work.
Stills is being held in the Barry County jail on a cash-only bond of $50,000. He has been arraigned, and a disposition hearing was held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
