Local schools set open houses
Cassville, Exeter, Wheaton prepare for students' return
With summer coming to a close, students will return to class at area schools in coming weeks.
Cassville school district will be hosting a Stop-Drop-and-Go event for grades k-eighth on Monday, Aug. 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the primary and middle school campuses, and a Freshman Orientation and new student Open House will be held the same date at 7 p.m., in the high school gymnasium. Food will be available at the Stop-Drop-and-Go event, provided by Cox Health Systems.
At the events, students will find out everything they need to know, meet their teachers, drop off supplies and pick up schedules.
The Exeter school district will be hosting a Back-to-School event for grades kindergarten through eighth on Aug. 14 at the school from 6-8 p.m.
A new student freshman orientation and open house will be held the same date at 7 p.m.

Wheaton schools begin classes on Aug. 15.
Open House will be Aug. 14 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Open enrollment, schedule pick-up and Scott Tech student orientation dates are as follows:
• Open enrollment for new students: Aug. 3-4
• Schedule pickup for Seniors and Juniors: Aug. 7
• Schedule pickup for Sophomores and Freshman: Aug. 8
• Schedule pickup for 8th and 7th graders: Aug. 9
Office hours at Wheaton schools are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Students attending Scott Tech for the first time will be required to attend one of the new student orientation meetings with a parent or guardian on Aug. 10 from 6:30-8 p.m. or on Aug. 11 from 2-3 p.m. This meeting will be held in Monett at Scott Tech.

Parents will have a savings opportunity on certain school supplies, clothes and computers during Missouri's annual Sales Tax Holiday, which runs Friday through Sunday.
School supply lists for all Barry County districts for the 2017-2018 school year are available at the schools or in the Back to School Tab printed in today's edition of the Cassville Democrat. Lists by grade are also available at Walmart, and on each district's website or Facebook page.
