Gary L. Walden
Gary L. Walden, 74, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017, at University Hospital in Columbia.
He was born Dec. 26, 1942, in Washburn, the son of Clovis Abe and Mary Bernice (Elgin) Walden. Preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, Mike and Teddy; and one sister, Rowena Hendrix.
He grew up and received his education at Washburn, graduating from Southwest High School. In June 1961, he entered the U.S. Air Force, serving until 1966. He then worked for the Missouri Conservation Commission in the fish hatchery at Table Rock Dam in Branson. In 1973, he began working for the U.S. Postal Service at Lee’s Summit, retiring in 1998.
Survivors include: one son, Gary Walden, Jr., of Lebanon; seven daughters, Lynn Kinnett and her husband Dwight of Lebanon, Mary Frances Osborn and her husband Robert of Pacolet, S.C., Vicki Lynn Moorhead of Centerview, Carla Jean Blackshear of Oklahoma City, Okla., Gloria Aldridge of Michigan, Linda Barrentine and her husband Robert of Lee’s Summit, and Sabrina Brown of Warsaw; one brother, Larry Walden of El Dorado, Kan.; one sister, Linda Garrett and her husband Roy of Blairsville, Ga.; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren.
Graveside services with military honors were held Monday, July 31 at Washburn Prairie Cemetery under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
