Annual Stop, Drop and Run 5K Walk/Run set in Wheaton
Wheaton Fire Department hosts inaugural 5K fundraiser
The inaugural Stop, Drop and Run 5K Walk/Run to support the Wheaton Rural Fire Department will be held starting with check-in at 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 26 at the Wheaton City Park, with the walk/run starting at 8 a.m.
A registration fee of $25 must be included with the registration form, which can be picked up at Wheaton City Hall, Security Bank at the Wheaton, Exeter, or Cassville locations, US Bank in Wheaton, Wheaton Family Market or Angel Tree Floral in Wheaton. Registration forms must be turned in by Aug. 4 for participants to be guaranteed a T-shirt.

Following the event will be the 59th Annual Wheaton BBQ.
Barbecue chicken dinners will be available at a cost of $6 per person. The meal includes a half chicken, baked beans, baked potato, bread and milk or coffee. The pulled pork sandwich and baked beans will also be available at a cost of $5 per person.
Entertainment begins at 2 p.m. The event will also feature craft booths under two large tents and free kidís rides, sponsored by area businesses, from 1-8 p.m.
The evening concludes with a duck race at 8 p.m. with a $1,000 cash prize for the winner.
Proceeds from the events will benefit the Wheaton Fire Protection District.
