Betty J. Scott, 86, of Seligman, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Cassville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Oct. 21, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Sherman and Violet (Anderson) DeWitt. On March 15, 1953, she was united in marriage to Bob Scott, who survives. Additional survivors include: three daughters, Dr. Cheryl Thompson of Marshall, Regenia Scott of Columbia, and Johna Brooks of Springfield; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers.

She received her education at Strafford. In her earlier years, she resided in California where she worked in various banks. She also was employed at Puffett Industry for a while. Her most rewarding job was in the ministry and being a pastorís wife. They served in Norwood and Vanzant before moving to Seligman in 1971. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Seligman, where her husband currently pastors.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Seligman under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Burial was at King Cemetery at Seligman.
