Burl Nelson Hess, 84, of Cassville, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017, at Granby House in Granby.

He was born July 15, 1932, in Crane, the son of M.M. and Jewel (Edwards) Hess. On April 18, 1959, in Cassville, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Stever, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one son, Scott Hess and his wife Debbie of Cassville; one daughter, Tracy Henderson of Monett; one sister, Norma Rayfield and her husband Stu of Chesterfield; and two grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Gene; and two sisters, Patty and Joan.

He received his education in Cassville where he graduated from high school. He received his Agriculture degree from SMS in Springfield. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army. In 1957, he began working for Commerce Bank, retiring as branch manager at Eagle Rock in 1995. During his banking employment he also farmed. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cassville and the Rotary Club.

Graveside services were held Thursday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor James Weaver conducted the services.
