Robert Leroy “Bob” Artherton
Robert Leroy “Bob” Artherton, 75, of Purdy, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at his home.
He was born June 18, 1942, in Arkansas City, Kan., the son of Frank and Linnie May (Alsip) Artherton. On Jan. 25, 1975, in Citrus Heights, Calif., he was united in marriage to JobieAnn Swisher, who survives. Additionals survivors include: five sons, Brian Artherton and his wife Trudy of Purdy, Jacob Artherton and his wife Kelli of Ozark, Jason Artherton and his wife Angela of Pineville, Timmy Artherton of Purdy, and Robbie Artherton and his wife Mindi of Cassville; three daughters, Vikki Prock and her husband Randall of Monett, Dawn Hansen and her husband Robert of Nashville, Ark., and Kristy Williams and her husband Kevin of Centerton, Ark.; one brother, James Artherton of Elk Grove, Calif.; sister, Nancy Langdale of Arkansas City, Kan.; 28 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Darrin Artherton and two sisters, Alice Hines and Sandra Langford.
He received his education in Arkansas City, Kan., where he graduated from high school. From April 3, 1960, until April 22, 1964, he served in the U.S. National Guard. For several years, he resided in Citrus Heights, Calif., where he was a self-employed professional pool mason. He moved to Missouri to make his home 35 years ago. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cassville, where services were held Saturday under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Burial with military honors was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Butterfield.
