Trooper's vehicle hit while responding to call

A Missouri State Trooper was involved in a wreck on Saturday at 6:19 p.m. on Highway 39 at Stallion Bluff Road, one mile north of Shell Knob.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Ryan Pace, 27, of Springfield, was driving a 2017 Ford Explorer southbound with emergency lights and sirens activated. His vehicle passed a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, being driven by Kenneth Shepard, 67, of Aurora, and Shepard's vehicle turned into the path of the Explorer.

Pace and Shepard each suffered minor injuries. Shepard was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, and Pace was transported by private vehicle to Mercy Hospital in Cassville.

Both men were wearing safety devices, and both vehicles were totaled.
