School has teamed with Mercy Clinics to offer service

It is the time of year when athletes must have their paperwork in order if they want to be eligible for high school sports competition.

Not only must the student-athlete have their academics in order, they must also have a sports physical to obtain eligibility.

Southwest schools, along with the Mercy Clinics, have teamed to solve the latter issue and will offer sports physicals for all Southwest students planning on playing sports this 2017-2018 school year.

The physicals are open to all students who will be in grades 5-12 and will be held on July 26 at 8:30 a.m. in the high school gym, running until no one is left.

The cost is $5, and checks should be made out to Mercy Clinic.

Interested students can pick up the physical forms beginning July 24 in the middle school and high school offices.

The physical forms are required by the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) and must be filled out ahead of time with proof of insurance.

For more information, people may contact Kenny Ferguson, Southwest athletic director, at 417-342-5496.
