Purdy celebration highlights local birthday party for nation

No party is complete without food, and the Purdy celebration of the nationís birthday on Monday had hot dogs, beans, chips and drinks for anyone who wanted to eat at the eveningís gathering.

Greg Klein and friends produced the sound of a professional country band with a big sound covering classics and sing-along tunes to entertain the crowd gathered for the nationís birthday celebration on Monday in Purdy, hosted by Ken and Julie Terry, who supplied the fireworks. While neighbors sat around The Gathering Place at Highway C and Business 37 in Purdy for an evening of socializing prior to the fireworks, youthful enthusiasm fueled smaller members to dance in the street. With the public streets blocked from traffic, residents from Purdy gathered in lawn chairs around Ken Terryís Gathering Place for an evening of celebrating, enjoying live music and a fireworks show, courtesy of Ken and Julie Terry.
