Extension offering financial planning class
'Saving for Christmas — in July' set for Thursday
Most people know of someone who is always counting down to Christmas.
Jokingly, they remind their friends months in advance of this traditionally Christian Holiday season, and for those of who have lost track, early July marks the midway point in the year until Christmas.
Share a variety of gifts during the holiday can be fun, but the expense of the season can be overwhelming. To help plan for the season, University of Missouri Extension Family Financial Education Specialist Nellie Lamers will present, “Saving for Christmas — in July” at the Barry County Courthouse on the Cassville square Thursday from 6-7 p.m.
“Long term financial planning can provide a way to soften the financial burden of the holiday season” Lamers said. “Small steps, with your financial interest in mind, can make large impacts on your pocketbook over time.”
Anyone are interested in learning tools to help initiate savings to ensure being able afford the gifts those little ones are begging for may attend the event, sponsored by the University of Missouri Extension Council of Barry County.
A $5 registration fee will be collected at the door. Advance registration is appreciated to ensure adequate refreshments shared following the meeting.
For more information or to pre-register, people may contact the Barry County Extension at 417-847-3161.
