Mary “LaVeta” Sherwood
Mary “LaVeta” Sherwood, 60, of Viola, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at her home.
She was born Aug. 22, 1956, in Aurora, the daughter of Clay and Clara Fern (Moore) McCullough. On May 21, 1976, she was united in marriage to James William Sherwood, who survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Michael Sherwood and his wife Jenifer of Shell Knob, and William “Will” Sherwood of Shell Knob; two daughters, April Abbney and her husband Robert of Vilonia, Ark., and Melody Bull and her husband Mike of South Carolina; three brothers, Irvin McCullough and his wife Connie of Shell Knob, Allen McCullough and his wife Ladina of Berryville, Ark., and Lloyd McCullough and his wife Debora of Shell Knob; and four grandchildren.
She received her education at Blue Eye, where she graduated from high school. For several years she was employed as a cook at Country Fresh Grocery.
She was a member of Viola Baptist Church where services were held Tuesday, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob. Pastor Scott Chisholm conducted the services. Burial was at McCullough Cemetery at Viola.
