Series of vehicle break-ins reported in Purdy
More than a dozen vehicles entered over wide part of town
Police in Purdy are continuing to investigate a series of break-ins to vehicles parked in the city that took place from late Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police Chief Jackie Lowe said at least a dozen vehicles were entered, based on reports from Howell Drive, Commercial, Madison and Washington streets. Lowe said most if not all of the vehicles were unlocked.
No vandalism has been reported with the incidents. Lowe said the persons involved appeared to have rifled the vehicles, taking pocket change and other assorted items. A purse and a wallet have been reported missing, and even empty pill bottles. No electronics were taken.
Lowe asked anyone who discovered a vehicle has been rifled or anything missing to contact his office at 417-443-3273 to help establish a criminal pattern. The Purdy City Council planned to post an online video asking residents to report losses related to the spree.
