Cassville woman charged with child abuse
Victim allegedly knocked off bed, left alone in home
A Cassville woman has been charged with a felony and two misdemeanors after an alleged incident involving two children at a home in Cassville.
Monica Lucero, 39, of Cassville, is charged with felony child abuse and two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Taylor Lombard, deputy with the Barry County Sheriff's Office, an 11-year-old child said Lucero, out of anger, aggressively shoved a 7-year-old child in the shoulder and chest with both hands, causing the child to fall off a bed and onto the floor, where the child may have suffered physical injury.
Lucero then allegedly left the two children alone in the home, and the 11-year-old had to find a phone and call a family member for help.
Lucero is being held in the Barry County jail on a cash-only bond of $10,000. She was arraigned on Tuesday in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke, and another court date has yet to be set.
