SKITS ready to delight audiences with upcoming play
Homemade Meatballs to be offered on play night, sponsors offer perks
Shell Knob in the Spotlight (SKITS) wants the people of Barry County to know that “meatballs” are simmering on the back burner, as the play, “Million Dollar Meatballs,” described by staff as a comedy of epic proportions, will not only quench a craving for meatballs but also delight audiences.
Residents are encouraged to come out for a night of fun and laughter at the play, which is hosted and prepared by residents in the community with little to no acting experience.
Play dates are April 28 and 29 at 6:30 p.m., and April 30 at 2 p.m. The production will be held at the United Methodist Church on Highway YY, just off Highway 39 in Shell Knob.
Barb Van Dusen, SKITS president, said Carmelina’s Italian Bistro is supporting SKITS as an Angel Sponsor, and as part of their sponsorships, the restaurant would like all play guests to enjoy their version of Million Dollar Meatballs prepared at the restaurant by their own Chef David, and it will offer SKITS’ patrons 15 percent off a meal via a coupon in the playbill.
The Italian, lakeside Bistro just opened its doors last year, and its rustic, natural decor is made from the wood of nine barns. It is open Friday through Sunday and opens seven days a week after Memorial Day.
Another SKITS Angel Sponsor, long-time Branson West resident Nita Jane Ayers, Table Rock Lake area Realtor, said she appreciates the community effort required to produce an event.
“It’s great to provide such a wonderful, creative outlet for everyone involved, and it’s really fun to see the shows.”
Jug N Plug in Shell Knob is offering perks to play-goers in the form of a discount coupon, which can be redeemed by bringing tickets into the store.
Play tickets are $7 at the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce, Jug N Plug and Arvest Bank.
Guests can also call 417-858-9590 for tickets to be picked up at the door in Will Call fashion for the $7 price. Tickets at the door are $9, and children 12-and-under are free.
Some membership levels and sponsors receive reserved seats. Doors open 30 minutes before show time, and, as an extra perk in keeping with the play theme, homemade meatballs and snacks will be offered for sale by the Methodist Church ladies to enjoy.
