Event offers way to dispose of unused drugs properly

The Cassville Police Department is again participating in the D.E.A. Prescription Take Back Day.

The event will be held on April 29 between the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cassville City Hall and Cassville Police Department, located at 300 Main St. The entrance will be in the back of the building, using the Council Chamber door.

The Prescription Take Back Day is to help people to properly dispose of unused medications. Proper disposal of medication helps to protect the environment and keeps the medicine from being flushed into our water systems.

This also helps keep the medication out of the hands of people who do not have a prescription or need for the medication, but want to use it for recreational use only.

Cassville police want to encourage people to take the time to clean out their medicine draws and cabinets and properly dispose of their unused medicine. Over-the-counter medications will also be accepted.

Not accepted are: inhalers, illegal drugs or sharp objects (i.e.syringes/needles), or medications from medical clinics, pharmacies or veterinary clinics.
