New Dollar General places sign, prepares for opening

Wednesday, April 19, 2017
Workers prepare to mount the sign for the new Dollar General store located at corner of 11th and Main Street, which is tentatively scheduled to open the first week of May. Construction, which began in early November, has moved quickly, and the store is putting on the finishing touches to prepare for its grand opening, boasting a larger size and additional conveniences. The store will be expanding about 1,500 square feet, growing from its previous 5,800 to 7,300. It will also feature 22 coolers with more food choices, a larger health and beauty section and an expanded, more efficient checkout area. After being located just down the road at 401 Main Street for 10 years, store management made the decision to relocate due to repeat flooding episodes resulting in merchandise damage, expensive repairs and store closings. Employees will soon be moving merchandise into the new building. Julia Kilmer/reporter@cassville-democrat.com
