Barry County beauties return with pageant trophies
Local Barry County Girls Kimber Keller, Joscelyn Dover and Cammie Olson came home from the 2017 Midwest International Girl Finals with huge wins. But, they weren't the only ones in the county to win an award and make new friends.
Girls from all across Missouri and Kansas competed against each other at the event, which was held March 24-26 in Branson at the Clarion Hotel.
Joscelyn Dover, 2, the daughter of Curtis and Amanda Dover of Cassville, was named Missouri's Tiny Miss, and first alternate in Beautiful Doll. She qualified by as the Barry County Beauty winner. Dover competed in party dress, interview, playtime with the judges, sportswear and more. In addition, she along with all the other girls enjoyed a Disney princess party, showcase dinner at Golden Corral and a swim party.†
She qualified for the state pageant by winning Tiny Miss Greater Springfield in November.†
Dover was not the only one to take home a top title. Cammie Olson, daughter of Keith and Sharrie Hartman, of Monett, was named Missouri's Teen Miss. She was also named Top Model, Cover Girl, Miss Teen Photogenic and Beautiful Doll Winner.†
Olson is the granddaughter of Walt Hartman of Monett and Phil and Judy Parker. She qualified for the state pageant as the Barry County Beauty winner.†
Olson said she enjoyed the Top Model party of the pageant the best, and making new friends.†
Kimber Keller, 1, of Monett was named Missouri's Baby Miss, She qualified by winning Baby Miss Beauty at the Barry County Pageant. She is the daughter of Kent and Kelly Keller, of Monett.†
Whitney Beck, of Exeter, was named the 2017 Missouri Little Miss Princess after qualifying as the 2017 Barry County Little Miss Beauty. She is the daughter of Tara Beck, of Exeter, and Jesse Beck, of Wheaton.†
Beck is in second grade at Wheaton Elementary where she enjoys science and math.†Her maternal grandparents are Howard Prewitt and the late Angela Prewitt, and her paternal grandfather is Randy Beck.
She loves pageants because she gets to meet new people and make friends from different places and she loves to perform for the judges.
Krysta Rawlings, 15, of Cassville, was named the 2017 Missouri Teen Miss Princess after qualifying at the Barry County preliminary as the 2017 Barry County Teen Miss Queen. She is the daughter of Pat and Paula Rawlings of Cassville. She also placed first in Gospel Vocal Performance, and first in Country Performance in the Entertainer of the Year events.†
Sydney Swihart-Wolfe, 8, of Shell Knob, was named the Missouri Little Miss Beauty Winner after winning Barry County Little Miss. She is the daughter of Shay, Tim, Chris and Sara. She won ages 0-9 Best Dress and Glamour Model Winner.
Kinleigh Rae Johnson, 3 of Monett, was named Missouri's Tiny Miss Beauty. She won Tiny Miss Beautiful Doll. She is the daughter of Brian and Lisa Johnson of Monett. †
Brooklynn Epperson, 4, of Verona was named the 2017 Missouri Petite Miss Personality after qualifying as the 2017 Tiny Miss Barry County. She is the daughter of Levi and Stephanie Epperson from Verona.
All girls enjoyed the chance to meet other contestants from across the state and Kansas. They exchanged souvenir gifts from each others' towns, secret pal gifts and more. Many made friends backstage holding hands while waiting on announcements, or sang songs while waiting to go on stage. During the Disney party, parents participated in rated-G Mr. and Mrs. Leggs contest that kids got voted for. Many laughs ensued.†
