Southwest FFA hosting labor auction

Are you in need of help around the house or farm? Southwest FFA is holding its annual Labor Auction, which allows attendees to bid on FFA members to do various tasks of their choosing. The event will be Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Southwest High School Commons Area. Members bought will work 4-hour days. There will also be a pulled pork dinner at the auction, which can be paid for by donations.

Area parks opened or scheduled for opening

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers opened six of its recreation areas on Table Rock Lake Saturday. These parks include Campbell Point, Cape Fair, Cricket Creek, Mill Creek, Old Highway 86, and Indian Point. Aunts Creek, Baxter, Big M, Eagle Rock, and Viola will open May 1. Moonshine Beach, which is a day use only area, will open May 15. Site specific camping and picnic shelter reservations for Table Rock Lake recreation areas can be made through the National Recreation Reservation Service by calling toll free 1-877-444-6777 or visiting the reservation website at www.ReserveUSA.com.

Eagle Rock events upcoming

The Eagle Rock Friends of the Library will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday. The hunt will begin at 11 a.m. Parents may bring a camera for pictures with the Easter Bunny. People may also mark their calendars for May 6, when the friends are having their annual Yard Sale. For more information, people may contact the library at 417-271-3186.

Shell Knob Home & Business Show on Friday, Saturday

The Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Home & Business Show from 5-8:30 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. People who wish to confirm a booth space should call the chamber at 417-858-3300.

Cassville to screen preschoolers

Preschool screening for 3- and 4-year-old children in the Cassville school district is scheduled for Friday. Parents of 3- and 4-year-old children may call the primary office at 417-847-2445 to schedule an appointment. The screening results will be used to help determine eligibility. If the student is eligible for the preschool program, the parent will be contacted at a later date to come in and fill out the required enrollment paperwork. Children who will be eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2017–2018 school year should not participate in this screening.

Southwest hosting chili, baked potato fundraiser for band

The Southwest Band Boosters will host their annual Chili and Baked Potato dinner and auction fundraiser on Saturday, changed from April 1. The money raised will support the band with purchasing items needed throughout the year, including music, stands, instruments, repairs, awards and scholarships. The Boosters are seeking donations from local businesses, and all donors will be recognized at the fundraiser. For more information, people may call 417-826-5050.
