Avenell Carter, 82, of Shell Knob, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.
She was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Shell Knob, the daughter of George F. and Nancy Ledgerwood Dodson, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were two sons, Raymond Carter and Russell Brownsberger; three brothers; one sister; and one granddaughter.
Survivors include: two daughters, Connie Ring of Kansas City, and Carolyn Riddle and her husband Shaun of Shawnee, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.
She received her education at Shell Knob and Cassville, where she graduated from high school. She had resided in Raytown, Missouri several years, before moving back to Shell Knob in 1995. She was a member of Shell Knob Church of Christ. She was a charter member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Services were held Friday in Shell Knob Church of Christ under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob. Bob Deffenbaugh conducted the services. Burial was be at Fields Cemetery at Shell Knob.
