Murphy: 'I enjoy helping people through a variety of illnesses.'

CoxHealth welcomes Brent Murphy, DO, to its team at CoxHealth Center Cassville.

Murphy received his Bachelor’s degree in psychology with minors in biomedical sciences and chemistry from Missouri State University. He graduated from A.T. Still University—Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

Dr. Murphy, who is originally from southwest Missouri, said the opportunity to practice medicine at CoxHealth Center Cassville allows him to be near his extended family.

“I think Cassville is beautiful with the rolling hills of the Ozarks and the Mark Twain National Forest,” he said. “Plus, I found all the staff at the clinic to be friendly and helpful.”

Murphy said he chose medicine because he enjoys helping people, and early in college he knew he wanted to choose a career of service. Dr. Murphy added that he actually started his early college course work with a career in criminal justice in mind, but after taking a biomedical science course, he found himself fascinated with the complexity of how the human body worked—which sparked his pursuit of the medical field.

“I enjoy helping people through a variety of illnesses,” he said. “The most rewarding times are when a patient simply says ‘Thank you’ or gives you a hug. I want people to know that I care about the health and well-being of those in our community, and I look forward to making a positive impact in these areas.”

In his spare time, Murphy enjoys fishing, hunting, anything else that involves the outdoors, and spending time with his wife and extended family.

As an internist, Dr. Murphy will see adult patients (age 18 and older). He joins Dr. Michael Payne and Family Nurse Practitioners John Lollis and Julitta Shirley.

CoxHealth Center Cassville is located at 75 Smithson Drive. The clinic offers a wide range of services for the entire family.  To make an appointment, or for more information about services offered, please call 417-847-3500.
