Charles Newman Weathers
Charles Newman Weathers, 88, of Cassville, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017, at his home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1928, in Seligman, the son of Leon and Jocie B. (Edens) Weathers. On Feb. 3, 1950, in Bentonville, Ark., he was united in marriage to Chloe Porter, who survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Sammie Leon Weathers and his wife Charlotte of St. Robert, and Johnny Newman Weathers and his wife Kathy of Washburn; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, James Lamoin Weathers; and one sister, Billy Jo Williams.
He received his education at Rock Springs and Washburn. From Jan. 10, 1947, until May 28, 1948, he served in the U.S. Army. For a few years, he resided in Wichita, Kan., where he was a guard at Boeing Aircraft and worked for the Sheriff Patrol. After returning to southwest Missouri, he became a deputy sheriff for Barry County for a while. He then worked for several years as a park ranger for Roaring River State Park from which he retired. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Washburn.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Richard Jones and Rick Hendrix will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be at King Cemetery at Seligman.
