Cassville resident bit child after physical altercation

A Cassville woman was arrested recently after a physical altercation at a home on Highway Y that led to a child with autism being injured.

Candie Getson, 40, of Cassville, is charged with third-degree assault of a special victim.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Officer Danny Boyd, with the Cassville Police Department, Getson asked the child to get up so they could leave.

The child became upset, and a verbal disturbance erupted, with Getson yelling in the child’s face.

A physical altercation then ensued, and Getson allegedly bit the child on the upper left arm, leaving a mark.

Getson also allegedly pushed the child to the floor, causing a carpet burn on the child’s neck.

Getson is being held in the Barry County jail on a cash-only bond of $15,000.

She has been arraigned, and a disposition hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on March 16 in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
