Willa Dean Griffis, 85, of Shell Knob, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

She was born March 17, 1931 in Wichita, Kan., the daughter of Asa Daniel and Ethel (Ingram) Rusher. On July 27, 1958, in Lamont, Okla., she was united in marriage to William Calvin “Bill” Griffis, who survives. Additional survivors include: one son, Kenneth Michael Griffis and his wife Elizabeth of Shell Knob; one daughter, Linda Kay Babcock and her husband Keene of Peck, Kan.; two sisters, Marie Wilson of Wichita, Kan., and Alta Lee Riley of Derby, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Philip; an infant brother, Robert Daniel; and two sisters, Leta Mae Godbehere and Betty Jo Durben.

She graduated from high school at Lamont, Okla. In October 1992 they moved to Shell Knob to make their home. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Shell Knob. Services for Willa Dean and her son, Philip Wayne Griffis, 56, who was born Sept. 2, 1959, and died Nov. 19, 2016, was held Monday in Trinity Presbyterian Church at Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob. Burial wias at Lake Park Memorial Gardens at Shell Knob.
