Purdy FBLA advances four to state

15 students earn medals in district competition

Fifteen Purdy High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members earned medals at the 2016-2017 District Leadership Conference, held in Mt. Vernon on Feb. 7.

Qualifying for state competition were Bayleigh Schad, second in FBLA principles and procedures; Rion Boyd, sixth in business calculations; Layne Skiles, sixth in personal finance; and Tyler Keeler, eighth in personal finance.

Also placing were: Hannah White, second in job interview; Colby Boyd, fourth in public speaking; Zoe Brown, fourth in spreadsheet applications; Layne Skiles, sixth in spreadsheet applications and seventh in advertising; Bayleigh Schad, seventh in introduction to business communication; Shelby Haskins, seventh in FBLA principles and procedures; Emma Mareth, seventh in word processing; Liz Moore, eighth in word processing and ninth in journalism; Mason Schallert, eighth in intro to parliamentary procedures; Soledad Salas, eighth in FBLA principles and procedures; Tyler Keeler, eighth in securities and investments; Brittany Bricker, eighth in healthcare administration; Rion Boyd, ninth in agribusiness; Emily Webb, 10th in organizational leadership; and Kyler Propps, 10th in introduction to business.

State qualifiers will represent the Eagles at the 2016-2017 State Leadership Conference in Springfield, April 2 to 4. Purdy FBLA Members compete under the guidance of advisers Kay Wright and Ashley Brown.
