Purdy Elementary School students received medals for character education in January. In partnership with elementary counselor Gary Jurgensen, Purdy’s kindergarten through fourth grade teachers present a different character trait each month. Each teacher nominates one student who best exemplifies the trait presented. These students receive character medals from Principal Janet Boys at a special assembly that features a comedy skit starring Coach Joshua Hughes as “Joshie,” second grade teacher Charlotte McGuire as “Charlie” and music teacher Christina Harmon as “Chrissy.” Honored for their efforts in acceptance, front row from left, are: first graders Dhali Wall Lee, Jaycee Lile and Valentina Salas, and kindergartener Alexa Talbert. Second row: third grader Gabriel Quiquivix and kindergartener Raylan Patton. Third row: fourth grader Kyle Bowman, third grader Corbin O’Donald, second graders Dustin Ash and Kimberly Canales, and third grader Milly Villa. Fourth row: Special Guest Stars Jordan Savage as Jordie, Kyler Propps as himself and Christina Harmon as Chrissy. Back row: fourth grader Randall Kessinger, Charlotte McGuirk as Charlie; Joshua Hughes as Joshie and fourth grader Ludi Venegas. Walter Welch was absent. Contributed photo
