Purdy pair place in Taekwondo event at Crowder College

Wednesday, February 22, 2017
Haley Burnett, left, 11, and Kelsey Burnett, 13, both of Purdy, recently competed in the Midwestern Open at Crowder College in Neosho. Haley placed third in sparring in the intermediate division, and Kelsey placed third in forms in the novice division. Both practice at the Gold Dragon Taekwondo, under the direction of instructor Dale Mackey. As members of the Southwest Association of Tournaments, the two compete in sanctioned events throughout the year, the Midwestern Open being the first, and if they finish in the top three in the points standings at year’s end, they will attend an award banquet and be recognized. The next sanctioned event is in March. Kyle Troutman/editor@cassville-democrat.com
