Goade makes history for Cassville
Wildcats' 170-pound wrestler wins 1st state match
Writing the history book at Cassville is becoming an everyday occurrence for the Wildcat wrestling team.
With a 3-2 decision, Wyatt Goade has won the first match at a state tournament for Cassville in the 170-pound division.
Goade (23-9) jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Daniel Duffy (33-9), of Pembroke Hill, only to see the advantage nullified by the end of the period. In the second period, Goade scored a 1-point escape and made the slim margin stand up for the remainder of the match. Goade advances to Friday's winners round and will face Aaron Heman, of St. Clair.
Logan Carlin fell by pin in his first match. He will wrestle later today to stay in the tourney field.
