Lanterns to light up Main Street

Wednesday, February 8, 2017
Barry Electric technicians Marty Henry, left, and David Newman, connect wires and add the finishing touches to set a new lantern in place atop lampposts last week, a culmination of a project coordinated by the Downtown Betterment Association to revitalize the downtown area. The large, time-period correct lanterns will no doubt provide illumination for the city, and add a historical, aesthetic appeal. The lights, which have been positioned around the courthouse and along a portion of Main Street are part of the associationsí DREAM initiative, in which five years of research was collected to facilitate revitalization including landscaping, lighting, building design and streetscapes.
