Bill W. Henson, 86, of rural Pierce City, Mo., passed away on Friday morning, January 27, 2017 while at Lacoba Homes in Monett.

Bill was born on July 17, 1930 in Monett, son of the late S.A. Henson and Lena (Lillas) Henson. Bill graduated from Monett High School with the class of 1948. He was a long-time member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon since 1974. For over thirty years, Bill was owner operator of Bill Henson Tile. He and his wife also enjoyed going antiquing. Some of his hobbies included hunting and fishing.

On November 16, 1952, Bill was united in marriage to Virginia Leonard at Mt. Olivet. They were blessed with over sixty-four years of wonderful memories and three children.

Bill is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home; two sons, Steve Henson and his wife Carla and Gary Henson, all of rural Pierce City; one daughter, Debbie Gaydou and her husband Ellis, of Wentworth; one sister, Shirley Thomas, of Sarasota, Fla.; six grandchildren, Michelle Womack and her husband John, Jennifer Brisco and her husband Chris, Tom Henson, Mandy McDade and her husband David, Andy Henson and his wife Marenda and Sam Henson and his wife Tiffany; five great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Jadon and Sydney Brisco and Carson and Emerson Womack and waiting on the arrival of Millie Henson; one niece, Teresa Thomas; one nephew, Tim Thomas; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Charles Henson; and two sisters, Gladys Ling and Deane Stark.

Funeral services for Mr. Henson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Buchanan Funeral Home. Reverend Neil Wolfe and Reverend Charles Leonard will be officiating. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett.

In memory of Bill, memorial contributions can be made to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
