Detective teaches scouts about fingerprints, crime scene investigation

Wednesday, January 25, 2017
Barry County Det. Doug Henry lifts prints from a Coke can last week during a meeting for Cub Scouts from Pack 76. Henry demonstrated the science behind obtaining fingerprints, along with the importance of accurately collecting evidence to solve cases. He also shared a few stories about his 20 years as a detective with the county, including one in which he chased a kidnapper from the Washburn prairie all the way to Rogers, Ark., apprehending the driver and saving the child's life. Some of the questions Scouts asked Henry: 'Have you ever been shot?' and, 'Have you ever captured criminals in an old warehouse?'. Julia Kilmer/reporter@cassville-democrat.com
