Naomi Young, 78, of Wheaton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at the home of her daughter in Springfield.
She was born Nov. 13, 1938, in Wichita, Kan., to Tim and Dollie (Allen) McLeod. On May 23, 1959, in Newkirk, Okla., she was united in marriage to Bob Young who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Margaret Watt and one brother, Jack McLeod.
Survivors include: three daughters, Diane Jordan and her husband Mike of Topeka, Kan., Yvonne Young of Columbia, and Carol Sue Williams and her husband Lance of Springfield; and two grandchildren.
She grew up and received her education in Wichita, Kan., graduating from North High School and also graduated from Friends University in Wichita. In 1965, she moved to Wheaton where she and Bob owned and operated Bob's IGA. For several years she worked for McQueen Funeral Home.
She was a member of Pineville Christian Church and attended Wheaton United Methodist Church. Naomi was a member of Wheaton Senior Citizens, Grand Cross of Color, Celestial Chapter #81, Cassville, Order of the Eastern Star, and a former member of Wheaton City Council.
Services were held Monday at Pineville Christian Church under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Burial was at Pineville Cemetery.
