John Edward James

John Edward James, 93, of Cassville, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at Cassville Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.

He was born on April 26, 1923, the son of Jessie C. James and Martha (Plattner) James in Coffeyville, Kan. He had two brothers, Herbert A. James, and Lyle L. James.

He grew up in Willow Springs where his father owned and operated the Chevrolet garage there. He worked for his father running the shop, ordering parts, and running the wrecker service.

On Oct. 1, 1950, he married Bobbie J. Dyer. He and Bobbie moved to Cassville in August 1963 and purchased an auto parts store, where he remained until he retired at age 75.

Survivors include: his wife of 66 years, Bobbie, of the home; sons, Don and his wife, Mary Lee of Kansas City, and Bo and his wife, Linda of Cassville; and one grandson.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday Jan. 28 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
