Cassville grapplers get needed confidence boost

The young wrestling program at Cassville put on a dominant performance at the Seneca Junior Varsity Tournament Saturday.

"The kids wrestled really well today," said Nathan Fortner, Cassville coach. "They have made huge improvements in their technique and knowledge of the sport. I am also very proud of the way our wrestlers kept their composure during adversity throughout the match. There was no quit in them. They wrestled tough throughout the entire match."

The Wildcats had 19 wrestlers place in the top three:

First place went to: Jaden Davis, Jose Melchor, Ethan Youngman, Wyatt Goade, Owen Morris, Colton Moore,

Steven Hunter, Austin McClintock and Devin Phelps.

Finishing in second place were: Tyler Morgan, Anthony Gimlin, Zach Marlowe, Kyle Ruark and Caleb Lucero.

Third-place finishers were: Braden Branham, Jaymen Dewitt, Logan Carlin, Michael Hunter and Jesus Perez.

The Wildcats travel to McDonald County on Tuesday. Matches are set to begin at 6 p.m.
