Jason Brawner: Camp Barnabas reflects on 2016, looks to 2017

Wednesday, January 11, 2017

Dear Editor:

As I look back on 2016, I can't help but grin.

I reflect back on the highs and lows of the past year, and I picture what I saw, felt and heard at Camp Barnabas.

I see campers smiling from ear to ear as they eagerly enter our gates. I feel the tears rush down my cheek as I watch parents of a new camper experience the joy that comes when they see their child is unconditionally loved and accepted. I hear loving missionaries and counselors cheer as they welcome campers with open arms. I am reminded that Barnabas is truly an amazing place.

The Lord has truly blessed Barnabas. We made significant gaps in our summer scholarship program due to your financial support. We also served more campers and missionaries than ever before.

As we look to 2017, the staff and I are passionate about continuing to make Camp Barnabas even better. We are: making improvements to provide more activities for campers; reaching out to find more campers and missionaries who need the Barnabas experience; and finding new ways to share the gospel.

The future is bright.

I would ask that you continue to be a part of making the Barnabas experience bigger and better. While we make improvements to our properties and continually accommodate more campers, we are in need of additional resources.

Your tax-deductible financial contributions in any amount will go directly to making those smiles, cheers and tears of joy a reality for even more people in 2017.

Jason Brawner
