Area teams invade Southwest

Holiday tournament set for 34th renewal

For the 34th consecutive year, Southwest High School is set to host its Holiday Tournament on Monday.

This year's tourney field includes four Barry County teams -- Cassville, Southwest, Exeter and Wheaton. Joining those four are Galena, Forsyth, Gentry (Ark.) and Pea Ridge (Ark.).

Boys action opens on Monday with No. 1 seed Pea Ridge and No. 8 seed Exeter battling at 3:30 p.m.

Cassville, the No. 4 seed, and No. 5 seed Galena are slated to tip at 5 p.m.

No. 2 seed Forsyth and No. 7 seed Wheaton battle at 6:30 p.m., with No. 3 seed Gentry and No. 6 seed Southwest concluding the evening at 8 p.m.

Second round action is slated for Tuesday with the losers of Monday's contests playing at 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., and the winners battling at 6:30 and 8 p.m.

The championship round is set for Thursday, with the seventh place game at 12:30 p.m., followed by the fifth place game at 2 p.m. The third place tilt is set for 5 p.m. and the championship at 8 p.m.

Pea Ridge is the defending tournament champion.
