Wind chill overnight dropping to -15

Hazardous road conditions are developing in Barry County, as freezing temperatures and precipitation are leading to slick roads.

The National Weather Service has placed Barry County under a winter weather advisory until midnight, and a wind chill advisory until noon on Sunday.

Short term trends are freezing drizzle with pockets of sleet, leading to several roadways being iced over. The Missouri Department of Transportation is reporting several accidents statewide, and 20 slide-offs have been reported in Barry County.

Later tonight, snow accumulations up to one inch can be expected, with the combination of ice and snow further worsening driving conditions. Strong winds may also hamper visibility for drivers on the roadways.

As of 6:45 p.m, no roadways have been closed, but MoDOT is reporting roadways in the area as "mostly covered."

Overnight, the win chill values will drop to between -7 and -15 degrees, lasting into Sunday morning.
