Cassville High School names Mr., Mrs. Merry Christmas candidates

Cassville High School named candidates from each class for the 2017 Mr. & Mrs. Merry Christmas title. The event is a long-held tradition at the school in which students are nominated by their peers, but the title itself is earned. The winner is based on which pair raises the most money for the Share Your Christmas program through OACAC, which provides Christmas gifts to underprivileged children in Barry County. Winners will be announced Dec. 21. From left, top to bottom, are: freshman pair Jacob Hall and Opal Gouvion; sophomore pair Carter Fletcher and Adrien Lee; junior pair Payton Varner and Madison Popanz; and senior pair Charlie Seymour and Mallory Schmidt. Hall is the son of Scott and Denise Hall of Cassville; Gouvion is the daughter of Mark and Tammey Gouvion of Cassville; Fletcher is the son of Jeff and Kara Fletcher of Eagle Rock; Lee is the daughter of Danielle Rowden of Cassville and Trey Lee of Fayetteville, Ark.; Varner is the son of Terrell and Tonya Varner of Cassville, and Popanz is the daughter of Brad Popanz of Cassville and Jessica White of Neosho; Seymour is the son of Chris and Angela Seymour of Cassville, and Schmidt is the daughter of Michael Schmidt of Monett and Melissa Hutson of Cassville.
