Purdy senior inks with MSSU
Rion Boyd to continue her softball career in college
Following a dream and continuing her career has led Purdy senior Rion Boyd to sign a national letter of intent to play softball next year for Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.
Boyd was a two-year starter for the Lady Eagles and earned all-state, all-district and all-conference accolades each season.
In 2016, the centerfielder was name the Ozark 7 Conference Player of the year.
"Rion has a deep passion for the game," said Lori Videmschek, Purdy coach. "She isn't flashy, but when it's game time she is all in. She's a very hard worker, both on and off the field. Not only is she one of the top softball players in the area, but her academic standard of excellence sets her apart from most athletes."
As a junior, Boyd hit .524 with 49 RBI, 38 runs scored and belted four home runs.
Boyd is the daughter of Danny and Frances Boyd, of Purdy and Sherrie and Dustin Schooley, of Pineville.
