Pickleball comes to Central Crossing Senior Center
The Central Crossing Senior Center announced it has created a Pickleball court to introduce members to the sport. An organizational and informational meeting was held Sept. 26 to discuss plans and scheduling for the court.
The center said Pickleball is a sport for all ages, which does not require a lot of moving around nor much skill, and is a good way to get exercise and meet people. The court is about the size of a Badminton court, with similar paddles that are smaller than racquetball paddles.
The net is the height of a tennis net, and the ball is a Wiffle ball. Rules are simple, and teams are usually comprised of two people.
The center is inviting people to come out and enjoy the sport, and expects people will be able to play a couple afternoons each week at the center.
In the future, the center hopes to have a court at another indoor
location where those who want to be more competitive can play, but the goal for members at the center is to learn to play and enjoy the sport in a non-competitive manner.
