Cassville man arrested for assault
30-year-old chokes, punches victim with children nearby
A Cassville man was arrested Sunday after an altercation where he allegedly choked and punched a victim while children were nearby and witnessed the assault.
Anthony Ramos, 30, of Cassville is charged with second-degree domestic assault and being held in the Barry County jail on a cash-only bond of $25,000.
According to a probable cause report filed by Sgt. Donald Privett, with the Cassville Police Department, Officer Taylor Lombard took a report of a domestic assault on Sunday at about 4:30 p.m., where the victim reported Ramos appeared intoxicated and put his hands on her neck and lifted her off the ground.
Ramos then allegedly grabbed a 4-year-old out of a vehicle where the altercation took place, while another child, a 7-year-old, in the vehicle was yelling for Ramos to stop. The victim said Ramos then hit her with a closed fist and grabbed her neck, choking her.
Lombard reported two witnesses removed Ramos from the victim to stop the alleged assault, and the victim had marks on the neck and arms consistent with the claims alleged in the assault.
Ramos has been arraigned, and a disposition hearing is slated for Sept. 22 at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
