Jon Horner, president of Security Bank of Southwest Missouri, held a book signing on Saturday at the Barry County Museum to celebrate the completion of his new book, "The Flight of the Slacker." The book is Horner's third, and tells the story of a fictional character from a fictional town in Barry County who works for the Bouvier school district as its chief financial and executive officer. The character, whose name is Gordy, finds himself in very bad circumstances through a series of events that develop, and in order to save his own life and preserve the school district, fakes his own death and flees in the night. Horner's other books include, "The Rev of Bouvier" and "The Deadly News." All three books are available at www.amazon.com in book and kindle form, and locally, at the Barry County Museum and Whitley's. Horner, who started writing about 10 years ago, said he patterns his fictional writing after author and novelist John Grisham, is very happy with the how the book turned out, and is excited to be affiliated with Amazon. Pictured are Horner, wife Darla Horner, and family friend Jake Whitham, whose profile appears on the front cover as the runner. His previous books can be seen behind him.
